Gosforth Housing Development

Design of public open space for new housing development in the suburb of Gosforth, in Newcastle, UK. The design of the open space balances the many requirements unique to the site context: ecological wetlands and drainage, linear play journeys and the creation of landscaped berms for sound attenuation.

Nature play is incorporated into the landscape berm with stepping logs and boulders to climb over. A series of grass walking paths weave through the landscape mounds and wildflower meadows. Specimen trees, shrubs and wildflowers guide walkers along the grassy paths.
